This week I thought I would share how we can enjoy TLC from ingredients located right inside our kitchens! What better way to feel like a queen than to give yourself a facial! 

The Spa is heavenly, but let’s keep it real, finding the time and money to go on a regular basis may present a challenge. The star of the show today is cost effective, yet sensitive skin friendly! That’s right, Oatmeal!  

Did you know despite being readily available and budget friendly, Oatmeal offers a plethora of skin benefits making it a great whole food ingredient to incorporate into your skincare routine? Oatmeal naturally soothes itchiness, calms irritation, hydrates and cleanses. For these reasons alone it’s a great product for us to work with. It also absorbs excess oil, preventing the clogging of pores. Last but not least, it is a gentle exfoliator, removing dry and dead skin, thus preventing acne.  

Let’s dive in to some great recipes, shall we?  

Oatmeal & Honey Facial Masque

1 Tbsp Ground Oatmeal

1 Tsp Organic Honey

*Optional: Add in 1 Tbsp of Lemon Juice 

Directions: Mix ingredients to make a thick paste. Wash your face and hands. Apply mask and wait for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with warm water, pat dry, apply toner and moisturizer of choice.  

Benefits: This mask hyrdrates and calms sensitive skin, offering exfoliation at the same time.  

Oatmeal & Cocoa Facial Masque

1/3 cup Cocoa Powder

1/4 cup Organic Honey

2 Tbsp Heavy Cream/Yogurt

3 Tbsp Ground Oatmeal 

Directions: Mix all ingredients together. Wash your face and hands. Apply mask and wait for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with warm water, pat dry , apply toner and moisturizer of choice.
